The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

Whenever a prominent honors show nears, there’s always a demand for introducing additional classifications to recognize underappreciated efforts and satisfy the passions of fans with niche passions.

Another commentator has already made for a horror game category. It would be amazing. So would tabletop games, this being someone's personal cause. But they will have to forgive me if I try to elbow in front since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case supporting my request stands as crucial and important of all. This is the request: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and inevitably start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. There’s a reason movie academies don’t do it. But it is an unavoidable compromise for the industry of interactive entertainment, showing incredible range they barely qualify as a single art form.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these award types recognizing Action, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these six categories effectively encompass a lot of ground, making space possible for numerous titles.

Not so for puzzle games. No appropriate category exists to put them. Think about these recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: structural challenges from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. What category would fit them among existing types? Simply put, no category fits.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens excellent brain-teasers released every year that have no home at major award shows, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging independent game categories.

  • An iconic brain-teaser received no recognition completely in 2014
  • Another creative title received no nominations in 2019
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often modest productions, yet the craft in brain-teasers holds tremendous importance. Famous handheld logic titles rank among most popular titles in the world continuing this trend for over a decade.

The legendary block-stacking game challenges well-known building titles claiming status as most purchased experience; it’s also in the running for best game of all time. Logic titles represent cornerstones for gaming as medium, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. It would be easy to populate a field of five with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave so many good games out.

To emphasize again, these represent titles without proper classification at major gaming awards. Logic title developers function at the demanding boundary game development, developing some of the purest expressions of gaming itself. Comparable to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait decades.
